With another no-confidence vote on the way, Larry Summers announces his resignation as president of Harvard, effective at the end of the school year. Between running Cornel out of town and arguing women can’t do science, Summers long ago lost any truck with me. He was an embarrassment to the University, and it’s past time for him to go.

Kevin,
What’s up with the “Shleifer affair” that the Chronicle of Higher Ed talks about? Is that what really did Summers in?
Hey…I hadn’t heard anything about that until reading the Chron article. Spending $44 million to get his boy out of a jam couldn’t have helped his case with the Corporation, who until now have been pretty solidly behind him.
It does seem to be a “final straw” sort of thing.
