“‘As a David Lynch movie, I loved it,’ he said of the 1984 “Dune” adaptation by the famously trippy ‘Twin Peaks’ filmmaker. ‘As a “Dune” fan, I was not such a big fan.‘” Taken and From Paris with Love director Pierre Morel talks about his next project, Dune, and so far he’s saying all the right things: “I’ve been reading it over and over again – well, I’m 45 now, so for 30 years…[B]y the time I bought the sixth book I had already read the first one six times! So, I’m a hardcore fan.“

So I’m hoping this means I won’t be seeing fremen have to shout “Muad’dib” to get their “Wierding Weapons” to work. Still, I liked Lynch’s Dune for the most part… I just hope they let it run long enough to do justice to the breadth and depth of the story — even clocking in over 2 hours, Lynch’s seemed rushed to me at times.
Your name is a killing word!
There are apparently several longer versions of Lynch’s movie floating around, but I’ve only ever seen the theatrical cut.
*hattip*
Heh. I was hoping you’d catch that. 🙂
