Superman lives?
With Superman v. Batman falling by the wayside, WB looks to move a Superman feature instead. The good news is they’re trying to replace McG with David Fincher, Michael Mann, or Steven Soderbergh. The bad news is the screenwriter (J.J. Abrams, of Alias) wants McG.
Catch Him If You Can
AICN points to several pics from Catch Me If You Can (due out this winter), starring Tom Hanks and Leo di Caprio. Nice to see Spielberg continuing in the atmospheric vein of his past couple of films.
Paging Wonder Woman?
More trouble on the Supes/Bats film project…director Wolfgang Petersen is apparently doing another project first – he’ll be joining Martin Scorsese, Oliver Stone, Baz Luhrmann, and Ridley Scott in developing yet another Gladiator-esque historical epic, Troy.
The Rings Motherlode.
Elves going west, Bilbo writing, Isildur in trouble, and Gollum on a log(!), and that’s just the Fellowship stuff. TORN.net gets their hands on tons of precious stills from The Two Towers and the extended Fellowship [Spoilers, and, if you’re keeping score, give yourself ten points.]
Crichton, Cartman, and the Coens.
As per usual, I’m not sure which link I most want to jack from Quiddity…Farpark (Gotta love South Park Scorpy), or news of Romance and Cigarettes, the Coen-produced, Turturro-written musical.(Thanks, Megg.)
Somewhere in Time.
By way of Lake Effect, Terry Gilliam’s sequel to Time Bandits is coming to television! (although someone else is directing.) And this was announced in May? The fanboy sites have been sleeping on this.
Oh well.
Director Paul Anderson (Event Horizon, Mortal Kombat) is given the reins of Alien vs. Predator, which will no doubt make Jeunet’s outing in Alien: Resurrection look good.
Mmmm…Full Screen.
No more hunting on Kazaa…the Two Towers trailer goes live.
Who’s there?
Corona gets a peek at the set design of Stephen Soderbergh’s Solaris.
