Hey Jude (Get in the Gym.)

Harry at AICN says he’s got the goods on the World’s Finest casting…and it’s Jude Law as Superman and Colin Farrell at Batman. Unconventional choices, but I like ’em.

Crichton, Cartman, and the Coens.

As per usual, I’m not sure which link I most want to jack from Quiddity…Farpark (Gotta love South Park Scorpy), or news of Romance and Cigarettes, the Coen-produced, Turturro-written musical.(Thanks, Megg.)

Somewhere in Time.

By way of Lake Effect, Terry Gilliam’s sequel to Time Bandits is coming to television! (although someone else is directing.) And this was announced in May? The fanboy sites have been sleeping on this.

Goodbye, Sherilyn…

and HELLO Mia. Eighties beauty Mia Sara (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Legend) replaces Sherilyn Fenn on the new WB Batman spin-off, Birds of Prey.

The Escapist Gutted.

Corona reviews the Kavalier and Klay script by Michael Chabon, and finds it sorely lacking compared to the book. [Spoilers].

American Psycho.

Turns out I got the Superman vs. Batman rumors mentioned here Tuesday exactly backward. Bale is up for Batman, while Rudd is being considered to play Clark Kent. That makes much more sense…my b.

Attack of the Clerks.

Director Kevin Smith offers some dubious praise for Episode 2.

The Long and Winding Road.

Caught Road to Perdition over the weekend, and I must say I’m with Stephanie Zacharek (thx, Missy) and David Edelstein on this one. Despite some truly excellent performances (Law, Newman, Tucci, Craig), I found the film ponderous and disappointing. Bleah.

Oh well.

Director Paul Anderson (Event Horizon, Mortal Kombat) is given the reins of Alien vs. Predator, which will no doubt make Jeunet’s outing in Alien: Resurrection look good.

Paul Rudd?

Early casting rumors for Wolfgang Petersen’s Superman and Batman have Christian Bale as The Man of Steel and Paul Rudd as the Caped Crusader. Paul Rudd…That’s horrendous.
