In the trailer bin, The Nightmare Before Christmas meets Grim Fandango in this new look at Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride. And, for non-stop-motion haunts, lawyer Laura Linney tries to ascertain priest Tom Wilkinson’s part in The Exorcism of Emily Rose, ostensibly based on a true story.

Eighth Wonder of the World.
The much-anticipated teaser for PJ’s King Kong is now online.
Leggy Maguire.
Oops…this has been languishing in the bookmarks for a few days — our first look at Cameron Crowe’s Elizabethtown, with Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst, Susan Sarandon, Jessica Biel, and Alec Baldwin. As several others have noted, it all looks a bit Garden State-ish, but I’ll probably still give it a spin.
Muppet Eberts.
As seen on CNN, Statler and Waldorf, the cantankerous and curmudgeonly duo in the upper balcony of The Muppet Show, now review movie trailers each week. While we’re at it, can we get political commentary by Sam the Eagle?
Short Reign.
It’s only a second or two long, and I expect it’ll get hard to access really soon, but MovieNewz has posted an NBC teaser for the King Kong teaser, with an all-too-brief glimpse of a T-Rex, Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts)…and the Ape in question.
Artful Dodging.
Must be auteur Sunday…along with the new Malick trailer comes this brief teaser for Roman Polanski’s Oliver Twist. Please, Sir, I want some more.
America Begins.
So that’s how Bruce Wayne made his money…Christian Bale shows up as John Rolfe in the new trailer for Terence Malick’s The New World, also starring Colin Farrell (as John Smith), newcomer Q’Orianka Kilcher (as Pocahontas), Christopher Plummer, Wes Studi, Noah Taylor, and David Thewlis.
On War, Violence, and other Grimm Matters.
In this weekend’s movie bin, yet another new look at Stephen Spielberg’s War of the Worlds and a higher quality version of the trailer for David Cronenberg’s A History of Violence that premiered at Cannes last week. And, further into the future, the one-sheet for Terry Gilliam’s return, The Brothers Grimm, makes it online. Along with Heath Ledger, Matt Damon, and the lovely Monica Bellucci, Grimm also includes Peter Stormare and Jonathan Pryce. Seeing Sam Lowry back in the Gilliam-verse should be worth the price of admission by itself.
The Candyman Can.
Who can take a sunrise, sprinkle it with dew? Willy Wonka opens the factory for public consumption in the new and rather saccharine trailer for Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. To quote the man himself, “You’re really weird.”
Big Trouble in Super Hogwarts.
The Incredibles meets Mean Girls in the new trailer for Disney’s Sky High. Looks like it might be a better-than average kid’s movie, particularly with characters like Bruce Campbell and Dave Foley in the mix.
