Homer and the Butterfly.

The trailer for Ray Bradbury’s A Sound of Thunder, starring Ed Burns and Ben Kingsley, shows up online, and I’m getting the sense the Treehouse of Horror V version might just be more entertaining. And what’s up with Kingsley’s flat-top? With this, Thunderbirds, and Suspect Zero, he must be making a huge down payment on a house or something.

Mach 3.

The new trailer for Blade: Trinity arrives. Ok, they stole the music and slo-mo from The Matrix and the whole Parker Posey-in-the-desert-fortress bit from Hellboy, but I’m still quite looking forward to this. The first two Blades were both surprisingly fun popcorn flicks, and I expect nothing less from David Goyer’s outing, since he was both screenwriter and consigliere to Stephen Norrington and Guillermo del Toro the first two times.

Let’s Talk About Sex.

The full trailer for Bill Condon’s Kinsey biopic is now up, and while Laura Linney still has a huge debt to pay for her last film on academia and sex (The Life of David Gale), it looks like Liam Neeson will nevertheless be backed up by solid character work from Peter Sarsgaard, Timothy Hutton, John Lithgow, Oliver Platt, Dylan Baker…and Chris O’Donnell?

Paranoid Eyes.

In the trailer bin, Robin Williams edits memories for a living in the sci-fi thriller The Final Cut, while you (a.k.a. Carl Johnson) build a criminal empire in a first look at the much-awaited Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (and specifically the peril-filled city of Los Santos.) If you’re a GTA enthusiast, the interactive map is worth playing with.

Balloon Man / Captain Cambridge’s Mandolin.

In the movie bin this Friday, Rhys Ifans goes psycho (while Samantha Morton, surprisingly enough, plays normal) in the trailer for Enduring Love, while Stuart Townsend must decide among Charlize Theron, Penelope Cruz, and fighting Hitler in Head in the Clouds (Thomas Kretschmann had better watch out…or he’ll soon be typecast as the friendly Nazi.)

Pilot Needs a Hug.

No need to break the Sci-Fi boycott until the main event, ’cause the trailer for Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars is now online. It doesn’t look like they’ll be attracting any new fans with this miniseries, what with all the various unresolved subplots alluded to in the trailer alone (I’d forgotten about Wormhole Business-Suit Guy, for example), but at least we ‘Scapers will finally get some closure.

Under the Sea and Over the Top.

In the trailer bin, Bill Murray dives into Cousteau for Wes Anderson’s The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (I’m looking forward to the Henry Selick stop-motion stuff, which unfortunately isn’t in this preview), Jude Law gets increasingly overexposed in David Russell’s I Heart Huckabees (Can’t say I think much of this trailer, for some reason, nor of the “existential comedy” billing) and Chris Cooper channels Dubya for John Sayles’s political caper Silver City (Looks solid, but Richard Dreyfuss strikes warning bells…he can get real hammy when doing satire.)

Law will tear us apart.

There’s talk about that Jude Law will play Ian Curtis of Joy Division in a forthcoming biopic. That’s pretty good casting (better, for example, than Ashton Kutcher as Flash Gordon), although after 24 Hour Party People I’m not sure a Curtis biopic is really necessary (but cast Paul Bettany as Bernard Sumner and we’ll be getting somewhere.) Also in the Jude department, the trailer for Mike Nichols’s Closer is now online, and it looks pretty solid, if you can buy that anyone would actually leave Natalie Portman for Julia Roberts.
