As it turns out, one of the highlights of the Matrix experience was this very impressive teaser for Troy, starring Brad Pitt (Achilles), Eric Bana (Hector), Orlando Bloom (Paris), Diane Kruger (Helen), Sean Bean (Odysseus), Brendan Gleeson (Menelaus), Peter O’Toole (Priam),and Brian Cox (Agamemnon), among others. Also in coming attraction news, some official pics of HP and the Prisoner of Azkhaban make it online, including shots of Gary Oldman as Sirius Black and Michael Gambon as the new Dumbledore. Apparently the trailer of Azkhaban arrives in a week.

Biological Hazard.
The teaser trailer for Paul Anderson’s Aliens vs. Predator flick is now online. What a terrible, terrible idea. Both Ridley Scott and James Cameron have expressed interest in making another Alien film, and yet Fox greenlights this piece of hack garbage? Bleah.
From Pelennor to Petersburg.
Members of the fanboy press see 20 minutes of RotK, and they sound superb (Spoilers here about how certain scenes play out.) Meanwhile, the trailer for Cold Mountain, that other major Oscar-contending peak (besides Mt. Doom), is now online. I’m all for Civil War tales, but ah have to staht a-wunnderin’ about Jude and Miss Nicole’s accents after watching this.

In the trailer bin today, Ewan MacGregor channels Albert Finney instead of Alec Guinness in Tim Burton’s Big Fish, while Hayden Christiansen proves Anakin’s Episode II whininess might not be acting in the trailer for Shattered Glass.

A Danish film site releases 16 quality stills from the RotK trailer, including better looks at Oliphaunts, the Pelennor Fields, and Shelob. (And, yes, contrary to initial impressions, Baby’s definitely got back.)

The RotK trailer is officially up! [Take it frame by frame.] I originally had some issues with Shelob’s size, but the official print — much brighter and clearer than the boot I was watching all weekend — suggests there’s more to Her than meets the eye. Enjoy!

and She knows how to use them. The hour is finally at hand…Tomorrow the RotK trailer appears in front of Secondhand Lions (online Monday), and here’s what we’ll see. (Some screencaps here.) Another new Matrix: Revolutions ad makes it online, with two more to follow tomorrow. What with the ponderous epic music and all, it takes itself way too seriously as usual…but there is some new and intriguing footage in here. Update: The other two spots are now online, and be warned – they’re starting to get spoilerific.
Coming Attractions.
AICN points to a flurry of new trailers, most notably The Missing, a Blair Witch western with Cate Blanchett and Tommy Lee Jones (no, he’s not playing the pollution Indian), and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the new Charlie Kaufman script starring Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet, Kirsten Dunst, Elijah Wood, and Tom Wilkinson (and directed by Michel Gondry)…looks like Kaufmanesque fun.
Silly Rabbit.
The full-on trailer for QT’s Kill Bill is now online and…um, well, it looks better than the teaser, at any rate. I expect to see this in a double feature with the Coen’s Intolerable Cruelty on October 10, but I must say I still have pretty big reservations about this project (and I like mace-wielding Japanese schoolgirls as much as the next guy.) I guess we’ll see. Also in the trailer pipe, Halle Berry’s Gothika (due out October 24)…ho-hum.
