With Neo, Constantine, and A Scanner Darkly all under his fanboy belt (we’ll put aside Johnny Mnemonic for now), Keanu embarks on The Eighth Voyage of Sinbad. Keanu in a period piece? Uh oh. At this point, though, I’m more worried about the director — Rob Cohen of XXX and The Fast and the Furious. Hardly a Harryhausen.

Have you ever seen the version of Much Ado About Nothing with Reeves as Don John? Uh Oh indeed.
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking of. Pretty painful stuff.
Sinbad is an action orientated flick. As long Ted doesn’t have to spew lots of dialogue, it should be at least tolerable. I’m looking forward to seeing how the same effects guy from the flicks in the 70’s manages to evolve his craft. One hopes that the stop-motion clay figures will never again see the light of day.
