It’s Vice City baby. What GTA3 did to my summer, this one’s gonna do to my winter…anyone know any good preventative measures for carpal tunnel?
Fool me once…
It’s Florida all over again as gubernatorial candidate Janet Reno challenges the primary votes (or lack thereof) in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Question is, what have y’all been doing in Florida for the past two years?
Sorry y’all.
Between the first week of classes, including my first two attempts at teaching undergrads (this is harder than it looks – one section went amazingly well and the other went…not-so-well), and trying to finish up the last vestiges of Luce research from the summer (not to mention, of course, the Save Farscape campaign – apparently we’re making progress…we’ll see), it’s been busy ’round these parts. Should be returning to normal posting in short order.
Notes from the Front.
The campaign to Save Farscape gets some media play. Keep it up, y’all.

Lonely New Yorkers create a new venue for meeting singles: the first subway car (Via Caught in Between.)
Mr. Washington’s Congress.
In a show of commitment to NYC a year after the attacks, Congress convenes once again in Federal Hall, just as it did in the days of Washington. To my mind, this is one of the classier displays churned out by the 9-11 memorial industry this week.
Apocalypse Then.
The NYT watches John Kerry’s old Vietnam footage with the Senator and contemplates the relevance of military service to political life.

The bid to allow recreational marijuana use in Nevada gains steam, prompting much gnashing of teeth at the ONDCP.
Waking Up from the Dream Team.
For those who dismissed the international presence in the 2002 NBA Draft, are you listening now? America loses to Yugoslavia 81-78, and now will not medal in the World Championships. That’s just pathetic. I didn’t happen to catch this game, but from what I’ve heard it was more of the same – a lot of hastily jacked threes and a complete lack of team D.
