A few days after the TV Spot landed, a longer trailer for Steven Spielberg’s The Terminal takes off over at the official site. I think Spielberg’s been on a bit of a roll lately, at least visually, but I fear this might be a product of his schmaltzier instincts. Ah well, we’ll see.

Gates of Eden.
Tom Hanks, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Stanley Tucci hang around The Terminal in this trailer for Steven Spielberg’s latest flick. Hard to tell how this one came out from here…I suspect Hanks’s accent might end up being a bit Balki-esque by the end.
Tom vs. the Martians.
With Indy IV in turnaround, Steven Spielberg now plans to team up with Tom Cruise for War of the Worlds. (And, what with Robert Rodriguez’s John Carter movie, 2005 is looking to be the year of literary Martian invasion adaptations.) Anyway, hopefully Spielberg and screenwriter David Koepp will stick closer to the source material than did that godawful-looking version of I, Robot.
The Calculus Affairs.
In a strange bit of movie news, Steven Spielberg and Roman Polanski may be heading rival Tintin projects. Moreover, the Spielberg version is looking at Rupert “Ron Weasley” Grint or Jamie Bell as the boy detective in question…Not exactly star wattage, but I could see Bell in particularly working out. (And I could also see Spielberg going to the well and putting Tom Hanks or somebody as Captain Haddock.) As for a Polanski Tintin…I’m scared to think about it.
Tintin en Amerique.
With Indy 4 also on the horizon, will Spielberg’s next project be…Tintin!? Just so long as we don’t get Leo or Haley Jo as the journalist in question, I’ll probably be there on the first day. I wonder which book they’ll do…
Born to Run.
The trailer for Steven Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can, featuring Leo di Caprio and Tom Hanks, is now online. Still seems a strange choice for Spielberg, but I’ll admit I’m curious.
Mea Culpa means I’m Responsible,
(Big Gulp means ice cream headache.) Newsweek critic David Ansen revisits some of his earlier reviews, downgrading Minority Report in the process.
Catch Him If You Can
AICN points to several pics from Catch Me If You Can (due out this winter), starring Tom Hanks and Leo di Caprio. Nice to see Spielberg continuing in the atmospheric vein of his past couple of films.
Majority Report.
Saw Minority Report over the weekend and quite enjoyed it, although [Spoilers:] the last twenty minutes or so almost completely derailed the film (a la the Saving Private Ryan bookends.) Then again, I liked it better once I read the AICN talkback hypothesis that, as in Terry Gilliam’s Brazil, everything that happens after Anderton is “halo’ed” is his dream sequence, as foreshadowed by creepy-as-all-git-out Tim Blake Nelson’s soliloquy to that effect. Since that’s the exact scene after which the film began to smell, I much prefer this alternative. At any rate, I’m going to have to view it again to see if it holds up. I hope so.
Majority Opinion.
Back up, Spidey…advance word on this weekend’s Minority Report is inordinately positive. I hope they pulled it off.
