“It looks like Buss, the Lakers’ owner, has made his choice: Kobe stays; the others can go. In other words, he is not averse to trading Shaq and is willing to build his franchise around a narcissist who’s on trial for rape, doesn’t make his teammates better and is in denial over all of it.” Well, it looks like my concerns about Kobe joining the Knicks were unfounded. At the behest of Bryant, Lakers owner Jerry Buss sends Phil Jackson off, with Shaq soon to follow. I never really bought into the Zen Master hype, but Phil Jackson is assuredly a better coach than Rudy T. And letting Shaq walk to appease Kobe? That’s just ludicrous…The big guy may be on the downslope of his career, but he’s still in a league of his own.

Kobe’s got Pippenitis…an overblown ego inflated by years of playing with one of the NBA’s dominating players (Shaq is probably the best center to play the game, and I hate the dude with a passion). It’d be nice to see what Kobe can do with random slav or whoever the Lakers scrape into playing center. Provided, that is, he’s not tossing some prisoner’s salad in a Colorado prison (hope against hope).
On the plus side, maybe REAL NBA fans will be able to afford to attend Laker games now…instead of that fucking fashion show of hollywood shitheads and corporate kiss-asses who occupy all of the seats at Staples (save the three rows of nosebleeders). Only those of us who’ve been to Staples can really truly appreciate what a stupid exercise in visibility a Lakers game can be…
Let Shaq go back to Orlando where he is appreciated and where he’ll never be able to produce another Rap album or a sequel to Kazaam/Steel. Yikes!
